SAHM SAHW Brings Hope and Healing During Mental Health Awareness Month

Strong & Healthy Minds, Strong & Healthy Women (SAHM SAHW), under its campaign initiative “Operation Break Free,” had the honor of presenting at Mount Ollie Baptist Church in the United States during Mental Health Awareness Month in May 2026. The presentation focused on the critical issues of Domestic Violence, Trauma, and Mental Health, with an emphasis on breaking the stigma surrounding mental health challenges within families, churches, and communities.

The event brought together church members, community leaders, women, youth, and families for an impactful and educational discussion designed to increase awareness, provide support, and encourage healing. The Founder and representatives of SAHM SAHW shared powerful information on the emotional, psychological, and spiritual effects of domestic violence and unresolved trauma, while highlighting the importance of seeking help without shame or fear.

Topics discussed included recognizing signs of abuse, understanding trauma responses, anxiety, depression, PTSD, emotional healing, and the importance of faith-based and professional mental health support systems. The presentation also addressed the stigma that often prevents individuals, especially women and youth, from speaking openly about mental health struggles and domestic violence experiences.

Participants were encouraged to support survivors with compassion rather than judgment and to become advocates for safe spaces where healing, restoration, and empowerment can take place. The presentation further emphasized the mission of Strong & Healthy Minds, Strong & Healthy Women to support women battling domestic violence and trauma through mental health services, empowerment programs, advocacy, and community outreach initiatives both in the United States and Ghana.

The church community responded positively to the presentation, engaging in meaningful discussions and expressing appreciation for the education and awareness provided. The event served as a reminder that mental health matters, healing is possible, and no one should suffer in silence.

Strong & Healthy Minds, Strong & Healthy Women remains committed to its mission of “Healing Minds, Strengthening Voices, Transforming Lives” as it continues to advocate for mental health awareness, trauma recovery, and the empowerment of vulnerable women and families worldwide.
